Taking Action
There are multiple ways to make a difference through Indivisible Sherborn, some small, others more involved---all are important and will help build a better America!
Weekly To- Do's:
Show your solidarity with hunger strikers by demanding Congressional action against Trump’s mass detention regime. People detained at Delaney Hall and other detention centers are on hunger strike to protest their captivity and inhumane treatment by ICE. Use the link above to call your representative and demand Congress address the captives’ demands and stop the Trump regime’s inhumane incarceration of our immigrant neighbors. Then, use this link to call your senators, too.
If you have a Republican Member of Congress, email them to oppose another penny of funding for ICE and Border Patrol. The scenes outside Delaney Hall over the past week have put ICE and Border Patrol’s brutality and lawlessness on public display once again. And yet, as soon as this week, Congress could hold a vote to hand those thuggish agencies tens of billions more. We need to increase the pressure NOW to peel off enough Republicans to sink the funding bill.
Tell Congress to stop Trump’s war with Iran NOW. Republican leadership canceled a vote on a resolution to end the Iran war just before Congressional recess because it appeared the legislation was about to pass the House. This week, amidst new flare ups in the war that could lead to more death and chaos, the vote could come up. Email your representative and demand they vote to end this illegal war now!
Vote Yes for a Safe Massachusetts is working to protect our state's 2024 gun safety law. Last October, a coalition of gun extremists filed a petition to repeal this lifesaving law in its entirety. The question will be on the 2026 ballot. Vote Yes for a Safe Massachusetts is mobilizing a robust state-wide response to ensure that this legislation, which has been in effect since July 2024 and which for the first time regulates dangerous ghost guns, remains on the books on the 2026 general election ballot. See this Action Network link for more.
These are the final days to call your Republican senator(s) and Republican representative to demand they oppose $70 billion in ICE funding. We’ve kept this funding blocked since January, but Republicans are now trying to rush it through and hoping everyone is too distracted by other news to notice. We must be as loud as possible and show the GOP that we won’t be fooled into complacency when lives are on the line.
If you have Democratic Members of Congress, demand that they HOLD THE LINE in opposition to ICE funding. Republicans will do anything they can to fast-track this funding, including possibly keeping the House in session this upcoming weekend. Democrats need to use every tool they’ve got to delay, obstruct, and build public opposition to this bill.
Boston Pride returns June 6. This year’s celebration will include a parade, festival, and community events honoring the history and leadership of LGBTQ+ organizers, especially queer, trans, Black, Indigenous, and other advocates who shaped the movement. Pride is both celebration and resistance; plan now to show up, celebrate, and stand in solidarity. Learn more here.

STOP THE GOP’S NEW VOTER SUPPRESSION LEGISLATION: EMAIL YOUR CONGRESS Member! Republicans are once again pushing for a series of voter suppression bills – all variations of their infamous “SAVE Act” – which would create unnecessary obstacles for millions of eligible Americans trying to register to vote. This voter suppression legislation would require every voter to show proof of citizenship, like a passport or original birth certificate bearing their current legal name, when registering to vote in federal elections. That might sound simple, but the reality is that millions of eligible voters don’t have these documents readily available. Because these bills would require showing this proof in person, they would eliminate online and mail-in voter registration. LINK HERE
TELL YOUR SENATORS: VOTE NO ON VOTER SUPPRESSION: CALL YOUR SENATORS! That might sound simple, but the reality is that millions of eligible voters don’t have these documents readily available. Because these bills would require showing this proof in person, they would eliminate online and mail-in voter registration. These bills wouldn’t improve election security–would just make it significantly harder for everyday Americans to vote. LINK HERE

STOP deportations from Hascom: Massachusetts residents are being removed from our state through charter flights from Hanscom Field without access to counsel or family support, violating their due process rights under our State Constitution. Our tax dollars go towards funding this via Massport. Here is how to send a protest email to Massport and Gov. Healey. It is really simple. Go to https://lexingtonalarm.org/stop-massport-ice-flights-campaign/ and follow directions there. You just have to add your name and town.
